Synopsis
The first Brazilian film to win an international award wich projected Brazil's cinema at other countries was "O Cangaceiro" by Lima Barreto. But as an analogy to the sad reality of brazilian cinema itself, the talent of its creator would not be recognized at the time. Lima Barreto spend the rest of his life struggling to get back to the movies, while his film made a fortune for a foreign company and was released in more than 80 countries. This documentary propose an analysis of the direction of our cinema in the words of those who created "O Cangaceiro" and the two most successful filmmakers in the history of Brazilian cinema: Anselmo Duarte (the only brazilian to win the Golden Palm in Cannes for the film "The Given Promises") and Fernando Meirelles (4 Oscar nominations for" City of God ").
