Synopsis

 

"Media and Democracy in Latin America" draws a map of communications throughout the region. A coproduction involving ten countries - Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, Venezuela, Bolivia, Ecuador, Chile, Mexico, Colombia and Peru -, the project is organized around four themes: communications industry structure, its operating modes, recent changes in legislation and the movements of Community and alternative communication in each country. Through a comparative approach, scholars, experts in political economy of communication, journalists and social movements coordinators it discuss the communication monopolies and the struggle for democratization of information as a regional phenomenon.
